Leotard Courses

TutuSchools offers three levels of leotard classes.

In our Basic Leotard Class, you will learn everything you need to know to start on your journey through the mysteries of stretch fabrics. You will make a basic camisole leotard while mastering the many specialized techniques used to sew stretch fabrics. Be sure to pay attention to the different threads and needles used in this class – it is very important to use the correct equipment in order to achieve the very best results. You will learn about several different finishing techniques, including fold-over elastic and an introduction to the coverstitch machine.

In our Intermediate Leotards class, you will continue on your journey through the mysteries of stretch fabrics. You will make a basic camisole leotard, but will add contrasting neckline and strap finishes, as well as a skirt. Be sure to pay attention to the different elastics and needles used in this class – it is very important to use the correct equipment in order to achieve the very best results. You will be introduced to the use of fold-over elastic, as well as learning how to properly position the skirt to be most flattering.

In our Advanced Leotard Class, those who already know how to sew leotards and other stretch fabrics will learn new techniques. You will learn how to easily add cut-outs, insets, how to re-work necklines, and how to add a skirt to a leotard. Everyone will start with a basic “block” or “sloper” and will develop their own design. Our Advanced Designs Leotard class is taught from a professional, performance point of view. You will learn techniques for better fit and ease of adjustment, even when used for the most difficult choreography. This class is currently only available in the July Charlotte TutuSchool.

To secure your spot(s), please choose and pay for each course you are taking as soon as possible. We can only hold spots for students who pay in full or pay a deposit. Simply filling out a Registration / Intent Form does not secure you a spot in class. We have limited space in each course so please don't delay.
